Letter of Intent Producing a clear, coherent, and well-aligned prospectus of your proposed research in the form of the complete Letter of Intent can be a challenge, but one well worth the effort. You may struggle with some sections and find others easier to address. This week, you will focus on overcoming those challenges. An important component of revising the LOI (and the proposal or dissertation) is addressing instructor, chair, and committee feedback. Developing an LOI, proposal, or dissertation is an iterative process of multiple rounds of drafting, review and feedback, and revisions. As you enhance the depth and quality of the content, you will engage in a deeper critique of the material. Multiple drafts and revisions are part of the process. If you are unsure of how to address comments or suggestions, be sure to ask for clarification. The University of the Rockies Library contains multiple resources, including Sage Research Methods and other databases. Take advantage of these resources and other tools to support your efforts. While the goal is to produce a draft LOI in DP1 (Dissertation Planning1), you will have the opportunity to perfect and polish this draft in DP2 (Dissertation Planning 2). Discussion 1 (my dissertation is on “The Effectiveness of social media as a strategic tool for organizational marketing”) ________________________________________ Letter of Intent What one or more elements of the LOI were easiest for you to complete and why? What one or more elements were most challenging and why? What resources might you use and what steps might you take to address challenges? Discussion 2 ________________________________________ Reflective Discussion (need help forming the research question) Post a Reflective Statement describing and evaluating your learning experiences for Weeks One through Eight of the course. What are your strengths as a beginning dissertation writer? In which areas might you need improvement? In addition, although DP1 is a Pass/Fail course, give yourself a letter grade and discuss your rationale for assigning the grade. What advice would you give to the next incoming DP1 class? **PLEASE KEEEP DISCUSSION 1 and 2 SEPARATE (A FULL PAGE PER DISCUSSION)
